work experience
My first week of work Experience I worked in Festina lente I used this as my community service that is required at the end of the year I did not enjoy my time there and was much different to what I was thinking it was going to are your days three of the five days of work experience I spent there my jobs were to shovel manure spread tree bark for the path’s in the garden and also weeding this was not A pleasant experience but thought me how hard the staff work on a daily basis in the garden this work is very taxing. Which led my hunger to rise which was not a good thing as most of the days I forgot to bring my lunch and the selection of food in the shop consists of Koka noodles and soup which destroyed my skin after the week I was there. I know that is my fault but was another downside to my experience in Festina.
the highlight of my experience in Festina Lente was The memories it brought back from my childhood as my mum used to have a plot where she would grow fruit and veg and would also help out in the garden if the staff were struggling the second highlight of Festina was the kindness of the staff. The staff where very kind and very welcoming to all the students that came to help out in the garden although the work was very taxing and sometimes disgusting it was worth it. If it made the staffs job easier third highlight of my trip was observing the work that they do to help people with disabilities which were very commendable that all the staff showed a lot of patience for others that were struggling and helped them in any way possible

This week I was supposed to go to London too work with my god father in marketing and advertising but he was unable to due to a busy schedule so instead I spent the week working in the dockyard no.8 cafe
which is situated beside the harbour in bray through this work experience I learned the basics of how to serve customers I also gained experience on there coffee machine and helped improve the skill through the help of Gavin the manager at the dockyard although I still need some work to get skill up the three days really helped I really enjoyed the experience and hope to work with them for the summer holidays although I was not able to work on Thursday and Friday due to the weather the three days I was there were much enjoyed

octatube
working in octatube
my first traveling experience without an adult guiding way did not start off too well as we arrived on time to the airport, thinking we were early as we stupidly mistaken the closing times with the departure times so we proceeded to sit down and eat are food blissfuly unaware that are gate was currently closing. And because of that mistake we were forced to pay the very inflated one way stand by ticket price €100 and since it was stand by it meant we did not have a guaranteed chance on getting on the next flight which was overbooked.. are chances of all getting on the flight were slim but thankfully we did. After 5hours of waiting €100 down we were finally in Amsterdam, one of the most scenic city's I have ever visited although we were not there for long as we departed after about 2 hours of site seeing to the even more Beautiful town of delft where we would be spending the week I would describe delft as a smaller and more family friendly version of Amsterdam. Delft is known for its colleges and a great atmosphere which I would agree with. We were staying in hostel Delft which was alright I suppose it was my first time staying in a hostel so I have nothing to compare this experience with but all around it wasn't bad.
The next day we spent in Delft would be in octatube a glass facade company that specialises in glass and metalwork which ranges from skylines to facades and all of there products are manufactured in-house and are then shipped off to be installed this means there is a large amount of attention given to detail for the end of my work experience I wrote a piece from my time there for there news article which will explain what my role was for the week
My week at Octatube, an architectural firm with a niche in glass facades.
This company designs, engineers and manufactures all its products in hous,e which means there is a high emphasis on quality control. It haven't seen this in many companies which is one of the reasons Octatube sets itself apart from their competitors.
I enjoyed my time here. The whole experience gives me a greater understanding of what field of work I would like to pursue. Although I don’t think I would like to continue architecture in the future, I have learned a lot in the time I have spent at the company. I have learned the basics of sketchup which is something that may render itself useful in the future. I have also learned how working environments function on a day to day basis, as I have never done office work before, this was an eye opener.
Octatube has one of the best working atmospheres I have ever experienced. At breaktime there is a ping pong table upon which ‘around the world’ acts as an ice breaker. It's also a source of exercise to kick off the day and keep you focused on the work ahead, Aside from in Google Dublin I have never seen before in another company. All the staff are friendly and easy to talk to which made the work much easier and enjoyable.
My favorite part of the experience was the market research involved in finding work for the business. This is something I would think of pursuing in the future. The other thing that I enjoyed about my experience in Octatube is how I got to see all aspects of the company from how it is managed, the process of design and the construction.
