tiglin talk
Tighlin talk
This talk was given by john who was once homeless due to his addiction to heroin and lack of support through his family. He started the talk by telling us who he was now and how tiglin helped him. By giving him the support that all humans badly need and what many homeless people or addicts don't receive help due to our society social exceptions he showed me how important help to these people is as he explains when he was homeless he had no family he no one to support him apart from heroin which was a steep and degrading hill of despair and he also talked about the reason he started using the substance, he explained that it was because of he's upbringing, which was in the city center in a series of flats, he told us about the domestic violence that would go on between he's dad and mum where he's dad would leave hes mum often not being able to leave the house due to her injuries he said this hapened regularly and would lead his to the point that she would not be able to look after him and he's brother so he stopped going to school and he began taking drugs so that he could face he's dad not in fear of what he was.
Eventually progressed onto harder drugs such as heroin and was kicked out and was homeless for 2 years of his life until tighlin acted as the guild to a new way of living for him he then went on to community college and graduated with a degree and has been sober since, this has shown me how acts of kindness and charitable work does make a difference and can touch someone's life who is on the edge of losing it this talk has taught me many things and has been an experience that has changed my view on the homeless
